About The Coffee Collective
Maryangela and John Rippberger moved back to Tennessee in the summer of 2016 making Sparta their home. Initially it wasn’t with the idea of opening a coffee shop, but they wanted to reach out in love to the people of White County. “Too many people are lonely or so busy on their phones that they don’t look at or talk to each other. We wanted to create a welcoming place where people could collect and connect.” Thus was born The Coffee Collective, for the “Blessed and Coffee Obsessed”.
Both John and Maryangela have a life long connection to good coffee. John’s father was in the Air Force and the family traveled the world drinking fine coffee most every place they went. Maryangela comes from an Italian family and grew up drinking wonderful coffee. They met while John was in the Navy which allowed them to experience coffee in even more diverse places.
Daughters Rachel, who manages The Coffee Collective, and Renee, who’s studying abroad, worked as baristas in high school and college. Together with their son Ryan, they use their refined pallets to offer the best in house roasted beans and delicious coffee drinks.
Green coffee beans from Ethiopia, Columbia, Brazil, Guatemala as well as many other regions, are all roasted on site. Most kinds of coffee drinks from black coffee, pour overs, espresso, lattes, frappes, cold brew, and nitro brew are offered. The menu also features bakery items such as croissants, cinnamon rolls, and muffins. They also have breakfast foods, and lunch items including sandwiches, wraps, salads, and flatbreads. And as if that wasn’t enough there is a wonderful assortment of fantastic house made gelato. So feel free to come join us and experience our historic buildings in beautiful downtown Sparta. You won’t be disappointed.
